Introduction.

MiTRAQ is a platform designed for the mining industry, offerring global benchmarking and data analysis tools to help mining companies assess and improve their operational performance.

This case study is based on a real-world scenario. MiTRAQ, a platform tailored to the mining industry, offers global benchmarking and data analysis tools that empower mining companies to evaluate performance, identify inefficiencies, optimize productivity, and achieve cost savings through data-driven insights.

Siutation.

In line with national climate goals.

The Government of Canada was looking for an opportunity to decrease greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions associated with mining by promoting energy efficiency in the sector.

Between 1990 and 2015, energy use in the Canadian industry had decreased by 32%, while in the mining industry it increased by 9%.

Role of Mitraq.

MiTRAQ was contracted by the Department of Natural Resources Canada to launch the first nationwide energy consumption benchmarking system among the mining companies.

Impact.

Over the first year of the project, the benchmarking platform was joined by more than 20 mining companies, providing them with the tools need to identify where and how improvements to energy efficiency could be made.
